Hong Kong’s Umbrella Revolution

Hong Kong Democracy ProtestThe demonstrations in Hong Kong also known as the Umbrella Movement or Umbrella Revolution, began in September 2014 when pro-democracy campaigners, angry at China’s plans to vet candidates when they hold elections in 2017, protested outside the government headquarters and occupied several major city intersections.

Dr Pak Lee is a Senior Lecturer in Chinese Politics and International Relations at the University of Kent and spoke with Jason McCrossan.
